FISHING TOURISM

Fishing is one of the most ancient human activities and traditional fishing has been practiced in Greece since ancient times. Little has changed since then in the daily life of a fisherman. Yes, we now have instruments to navigate and to scan the seabed, but the essence of fishing life remains unaffected.

Fishing tourism is an eco-tourism activity that's relatively new in Greece and contributes to taking pressure off fish stocks. It offers a unique opportunity to live a day in a caique, watch and learn about traditional fishing and most importantly taste the fish just minutes after they come out of the sea!

While you are out #FishingWithYiannis you will have the opportunity to watch him fish with nets, long-line or traps. You can help and learn more about these methods or fish by yourself using a handline or fishing rod.

Yiannis, our captain, will cook the fish for you, make a traditional fish-soup “kakavia” and just maybe he will share his recipes with you! Most common fishes in the area: red porgy, sparrows, scorpion fish, sea bass, sea breams, comber, bogue & lobster.
